BEING A BETTER PERSON.

Dear #CrownPrince,

the warm embrace of family.. you can never go wrong.
Happy 2.5 years. All I can say, is I am continually amazed by how God has held you and brought you this far.

You have grown into a joyful son, learning new words everyday and speaking your mind. (I wonder where you get that from) But I am so proud of you. Your love for music and dance is amazing, your love for books challenges me every day and your love for God is so amazing. You are a true shepherd.

Son, today I speak to you about being a better person. You see there is a big word known as SELF-ESTEEM (Google for definition :-)).

Self-Esteem affects all of us knowingly or unknowingly and therefore, what we believe of ourselves, affects how others respond to us.

Some people have an inflated self esteem, what I call pride and others have a subdued self-worth what I call laziness. The balance to that is what we call a mature and healthy self-esteem or self-worth. And that line should be the place where you dwell .

Here are  a few pointers to improve how you view yourself.

1. Accept compliments: and smile. (and you have a killer smile son, that I know...)

2. Spend time with positive supportive people. You have had of GIGO (Garbage in, Garbage Out) People with crap (low self worth) will be more than willing to share their garbage. This affects how you view yourself. Let them loose.

3. Stop comparing yourself to other people: you are an individual. Start accepting that and MOVE ON!!!!

4. Be assertive, don’t allow people to treat you with a lack of respect. (N.B i said assertive not aggressive.)

5. Don’t put yourself down: because this also gives others the right to bring you down far much more than you would drown yourself.
never take life too seriously, no one comes out of it alive... :-)

6. Get into the habit of thinking and saying positive things about you to yourself (as a man thinketh, so is he.)

7. Acknowledge your positive qualities and things you are good at. And work on them.

8. Be helpful and considerate to others. This world is too small to have enemies.

9. Engage in work and hobbies that you enjoy and while you are at it, learn a new skill, a new language etc. (this also sharpens your brain and you get to meet new like minded people.)

10. Always have friends across different cultures and people of different status. Each of them have something new to share. Have friends that are at least 10 years younger than you are, they will keep you relevant, have friends who are the same age as you are, you will enjoy life experiences on the same frequency  and finally have friends that are ten years older than you are, they will mentor you and through your interaction with them, you will not make the same mistakes that they made.
11. (Bonus Point: eat your vegetables: you shall leave for long)

That's it for now
Love Peace and Gangnam style

Love,

Your mommy
