SHOW ME YOUR FRIENDS, I SHOW YOU WHO YOU ARE

Dear Thama & Thamana,
some very cute 'borrowed' twin boys

I am writing you this letter knowing it's the first of VERY MANY. This one is going to be about friendships.

I would love for you boys to make friends for life. Friendships are for a season and a reason. Some are for you to hold and take care of them like Christ. Others are for you to take care of, to be Grace and Precious Peace for them. I draw these lessons from your papa and I. Mostly mine, :-)
we had to borrow some more...

First and foremost, guard your heart above all, for out of it springs matters of life. Also in guarding your heart, you have peace in Christ Jesus. I know you love like your papa and mama, and your heart is vulnerable.

Secondly, you will need to keep a friend, and this is how to: Define what friendships are to you, how far will you go for a friend? Will the friend do the same for you? It doesn't matter. Be the best you can be. The bible has all that you need to have all the friends you want.
ok, this is the last one. i promise :-)

Thirdly, Friends come in for a season. Be prudent to know that season. There are some friendships that you will boldly need to kiss and let go, while there are those that you will need to fight to keep alive.

Fourthly, in line with letting go, it is quite the pickle, I pray that when this time comes my sons you will be ready. Like the good men you are, go to God, pray for the friend, and pray for your heart that the pain will fade with time. Darling boys, time is not a healer, but fades the pain slowly.

Last but not definitely the least, you are each other's brothers and each other’s keepers. You have a great opportunity that God gave you to each other. Be each other’s friends, but also have space for other people.

To have friends you have to be a friend. We pray that Your Papa and I will be there to guide you in Christ Jesus.

*Show me your friends, I will show you who you are*

Boys this is a mantra I have lived by and has helped me navigate through life.  This I will teach you and hope, pray and trust that you will live well.

Loves you already.

Papa and Mama

and finally, the #CrownPrince.... this piece is also for you. #WENDOZ

This piece has been contributed by Njeri and Marcus Olang’ (just newly married). The couple are my wonderful friends, and though they might not know it, they remind me everyday that True Love, is not only a magazine, but a VERB. Love is a continuous action.  I have known them for a while now, and they define the words FAITH, HOPE and LOVE in totality.
Njeri and Marcus Olang’ write this letter to their twin sons Thama and Thamana  (though not yet born) sharing their experiences on friendship.
Just as an FYI, Thama means Wisdom and Thamana means the Valued One. (I am all ‘mushed’ up, such creative names but also powerful names for powerful men)
I wish Njeri and Marcus, all the best in this journey of marriage and definitely parenthood, when the time comes.
Thank you for taking time to write this.
